7/6/2023 0 Comments Weird west miniatures![]() Miniatures and buildings appear to be "bring your own".Īnother Kickstarter game. The game itself includes the rules and cards. This miniatures game uses a card driven system to create cinematic wild west gunfights. While Deadlands is not a new game in 2014, the recent announcement that Xbox Originals will be making a "Deadlands" TV show puts this RPG back in the spotlight! Between Doomtown Reloaded and the TV show "filled with undead gunfighters, card-slinging sorcerers, mad scientists, secret societies, and fearsome abominations." I predict there will be a surge in Deadlands Reloaded RPG material soon as well. The game has a great western feel in the cards and mechanics and is a faithful rendition of the Deadlands environment, the weird wild west mix of horror and western. Of course some outfits are better at building and some are better at taking over control through their Dudes engaging in shootouts and eliminating the competition. ![]() Players build a deck representing an outfit (such as Law Dogs, Sloane Gang, The Fourth Ring, or the Morgan Cattle Company) that tries to build the town (through playing Deeds) in hopes of controlling it. The game centers around trying to control the town of Gomorra, set in the Deadlands (Pinnacle, RPG) universe. This ECG (Expandable Card Game) is a reboot of their popular Doomtown CCG from the '90s. And we can expect a lot of expansions (heroes, cards, miniatures, etc.) to come. They are releasing not one but two boxed sets initially, "City of the Ancients" and "Swamps of Death". The random exploration and tile created board should ensure no two games are ever quite the same. The posse, consisting of characters from western archetypes, enters mines in the old west and in addition to treasures find portals into other worlds to explore. ) uses board tiles and plastic miniatures and cards to create a cooperative "dungeon crawl" style game set in the old west with a mix of unspeakable horrors. This board game series originally funded on Kickstarter (. I have not played most of these games yet so these are not reviews nor endorsements. ![]() The following list is in order by my personal preference based on which I'm looking forward to most. I wonder if 2014/5 won't be the Year of the Weird Western! As I started adding up my pre-GenCon wish list for this year, I noticed the large number of Western themed games. ![]()
